Vulcan Steel Employees Travel to Hackelburg, AL

Tornado DamageA tornado touched down in Marion County, Alabama about 5 miles west of Hamilton, AL around 3:00 p.m. CDT on April 27, leaving massive damage along its track. The storm would eventually reach the Hackleburg area, leveling many structures including a large plant operated by Wrangler. Well built homes were wiped cleanly from their foundations and cars were thrown hundreds of feet. According to the Red Cross, 75% of the town was destroyed.

Coalition Commends Senate Finance Leadership for Commitment to Move Legislation to Enforce Antidumping and Countervailing Duty Orders

The Coalition to Enforce Antidumping & Countervailing Duty Orders (the “Coalition”) thanks Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-UT) for their pledge to move legislation this year that will strengthen enforcement of antidumping and countervailing duty orders. The Senators expressed this commitment yesterday in response to an amendment offered during a mock mark-up of the legislation implementing the Korea - U.S. Free Trade Agreement.

Vulcan Employees Provide Tornado Relief

Tornado ReliefSeveral Vulcan Steel Products employees and their families were affected by the April 27th tornado. Their experience became a call to action for fellow employees. On April 30th 20 people gathered to help clear debris and remove property from a badly damaged employee home. Over the next few weeks, several fundraisers were held, and with company support, the funds distributed by a committee to meet the most immediate needs.
